My Students
My students have many things in common and things that are different, making each of them unique in their own ways. They differ in socioeconomics, developmental exposure, academic skills, and the way they learn. They all share the desire to have fun, move, dance, and play while they learn.
My students arrive at school at the start of each year in hopes of fun explorations and enjoyment of being with their friends. They are enthusiastic learners full of constant energy and a drive to gain as much knowledge as possible.
My Project
The books that I have requested are a range of enriched texts that are both fiction and nonfiction. The books will help my students develop a deeper understanding of literacy and its elements. Each book will help us make connections to ourselves, develop reading and writing strategies, and broaden our view of the world around us.
Joseph Addison once said, “Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body”.
The books that I have requested will take us on amazing journeys during our whole group lessons. The books will help students connect to the story by using background knowledge, inferencing, and making predictions while hearing the stories being read aloud.
