Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

It is not just a school, but a community that wants their children to have opportunities above and beyond. The school's neighborhood is filled with organizations that wish the children to succeed, but unfortunately do not have the financial resources to make it happen.

The elementary school is a Title I School with students who are 100% eligible for free breakfast and lunch.

Every morning, I can honestly say I am grateful to be here because I feel I am part of something bigger.

One of my favorite parts of the mornings is when I am driving into school and there are several community members at the park, walking the track and socializing. It brings a feeling of family!

My Project

My students need Amazon Fire Tablets with headphones. I envision using these devices to download the countless children's books available and provide my students an interactive reading experience. Reading should be a fun and engaging. I truly believe the joy of reading will develop in these children when they hear stories come to life. I want to stimulate their imaginations with visions they create of the characters and settings in their minds.

Reading can be electric in more ways than one!

Technology is the new classroom norm. My students need access to these devices in order to keep up with the Jones, so to speak. I want to provide my students with every possible opportunity to access, use and become familiar with technology.
