Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have twenty-five first graders who are eager to learn. They love to come to school, and the school year requires several supplies that will be used. Our school is a Title I elementary school, in the California Bay Area. Students are in constant need of supplies and donations from families are limited.
Children thrive with hands-on learning.
All of our students love to learn, and I make it my goal to help them absolutely love coming to school each and every day.
My Project
With the pressure of today's society, students need to build skills in Social Emotional Learning. These read alouds would provide students with relatable situations of how to problem solve in safe and responsible ways.
Teaching Social Emotional Learning through read alouds give students an engaging lesson in learning how to build great character in themselves and one another.
We currently have a few books from Bryan Smith. After we read his stories about how to problem solve, our class creates a poster with the 4 steps of problem-solving that were described in the book. Students are able to look back at the posters to help them problem solve when situations occur in and out of the classroom.
