Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My high school students strive to engage in a good book; one that challenges them to reflect, one they can enjoy, one that they can see themselves in the characters.
My students desire a variety of books that reflect their diverse backgrounds, personalities, and cultures.
Our learning community works together to engage in discussions about good books and themes that my students can use to guide their thinking-they collaborate, they challenge ideas, and they challenge each other. My students bring their diverse backgrounds to important conversations.
My Project
In a diverse community, my students are challenged to find books that can reflect events that they can connect to or see themselves in the characters. I want students to enhance their knowledge of the world and communities that surround them. Through these new texts, I will engage students in instructional read-alouds teaching important reading strategies to enhance their literacy skills
By donating to the books in this project, you will allow students to explore their identity, shape reading and writing skills, and become avid readers.
Help us create an environment where we can comfortably read, engage in important discussions, and collaborate. Where students learn to love reading.
