My Students
This year will be the first year I will teach 4th grade. There will be 40 (potentially more), demographically diverse students that will make their homes in my room this year. Our school aims to provide an equitable education for our whole city, not just those zoned for our school. I am excited to teach this grade level for the first time, as there are multiple siblings of students I have taught in the past.
I always want my students to strive for excellence.
School should be a place where these students can come and feel like it is their home away from home. Providing them with a space where they feel comfortable will only enhance their learning experience! Reading is a hard subject for students to love in this age group, and it has always been my goal to have my students truly fall in love with reading, not just do it to complete a task. Through their learning this year, I would like to encourage all parts of the child - work ethic, attitude, health, and interpersonal relationships.
My Project
My plan is to purchase electronic materials that may be used either in person or online. I am looking to extend my students' knowledge by giving them activities that require them to think outside the box (such as escape rooms, room transformations). Student engagement is critical in the learning and problem solving process. I want to create students who are self sufficient and enjoy learning together. These materials will stretch their skills and knowledge far outside the classroom. My students are truly deserving of a fabulous 4th grade year, and I want to make it possible for them!
