Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Cognitive behavioral therapy materials will provide my students with the opportunity to increase their social emotional skills.

By understanding the connection between their thoughts, emotions and behaviors children will learn necessary skills to manage their emotions and use positive coping skills.

Additionally social emotional materials requested in this project will promote adaptive thinking patterns. Students will learn to reframe negative thoughts and build resilience in the face of academic set backs and teach growth mindset and encourage a positive attitude towards learning. As a result my students will increase their self confidence and get along better with peers and adults. Additionally replacing the outdated counseling chair with a new more comfortable seating option will enhance the overall experience for all who utilize the counseling office. By creating a more supportive and inviting environment for our school community.

Social skills therapy games will be used to teach students empathy and Perspective-Taking. Social skills games often focus on understanding other people's feelings, perspectives, and experiences. Through gameplay, students will develop empathy, compassion, and the ability to consider multiple viewpoints. This fosters a deeper understanding of others and promotes healthier peer and adult relationships.

The social emotional coin drop game and social emotional books will teach emotional regulation. Students will learn to manage their emotions, handle frustration, and cope with stress in These skills can be applied to real-life situations, leading to improved emotional well-being.

Finally construction paper and markers will allow students to create symbolic representations of concepts related to social-emotional skills. They can use colors, shapes, and symbols to convey ideas such as empathy, resilience, or conflict resolution. This visual representation helps make these concepts more concrete and tangible.
