Help me give my students more opportunities to explore math using TPT gift cards, headphones, and math manipulatives.

Welcome to Middle School Math! As a 7th & 8th Grade math teacher, I teach fifty-two secondary school students. The core of my math period is spent engaging my students in activities that build upon their foundational math skills. I help them explore skills through application and inquiry as they work to master grade level standards. Throughout the grade level content, I aim to create a strong focus around why math matters by making real-world connections.
The majority of my students are low-income and live on the north side of Minneapolis.
They are tasked with learning in the midst of racial tension, gang violence, and global unrest. However, they brave these issues with a resiliency unknown to me. My goal is to ensure that they have unlimited access to the resources needed despite their zip code.
Within my classroom, I work hard to create an environment that fosters a love for math. I challenge my students to view themselves as mathematicians. It is my responsibility to show them that they are capable of mastering the fundamentals of math.
Within my district, our curriculum is outdated. It is up to me to develop creative, meaningful, and relatable math content to help bridge the gap from my students' readiness level to them demonstrating mastery of the grade level content. These materials will allow for me to create hands-on opportunities for my students to interact and gain a deeper understanding of the concepts.
They will be able to experience math in real-world scenarios and develop their mathematical and algebraic thinking skills that will help them succeed throughout school and their careers.
The headphones will support students during small group instruction. While I am working with a small group of students, other students will be able to use the headphones independently to navigate a common core program with audio that reteaches content with scaffolds and guided practice.
TeachersPayTeachers is a marketplace where teachers create, share, and sell educational resources in various digital and downloadable formats. By having access to these resources, I will have an alternative pathway to provide additional fun and engaging ways for my students to interact and learn our grade level standards.
