Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember the first time your parents read you a book you could not put down? My students are learning to love books but a new cd player to replace our broken player and some new books would bring them great joy!
My students love to learn.
They are from low income backgrounds where most parents work more than one job. They come with smiles on their faces ready to learn, in spite of the daily challenges their parents face, to put food on the table and provide them with the basics.
They love read-aloud time, reading to each other and writing stories. They can't wait until I read them a story. Because they are read to frequently, they are learning to write stories too!
My Project
My students will be able to use a CD player and listen to stories without the machine breaking. They will have new stories that will excite them about reading. Not only will they have listened to these stories, but they will be able to take the books home and have a sibling or parent, read the story to them again.
My students will have a love of learning and a desire to be successful in school because they will have a new CD player, games and reading pointers, to be successful readers and writers, as they continue their journey through elementary school.
