This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach Financial Literacy to 6th graders. I have lessons and activities about all kinds of money topics, from savings accounts to stocks and bonds, but what engages and excites my students the most is playing money related board games.
I want to create a "Rat Race" class period when students can learn financial skills while they play Monopoly, Money Bags, or Money Bunch.
I am asking for a variety of games. I know my students will be involved not just in learning about making change without a calculator, but they will also be practicing collaboration and cooperative skills, social interaction, and picking up some other life skills as well, such as bill paying.
More than half of students from low‑income households
