My students need grade level, high interest and classic stories to engage and encourage more reading. My list is a mixture of classics, grade level picture books, and high interest non-fiction.
I am truly honored to work with wonderful students from a small rural community. My students are somewhat sheltered due to the small somewhat isolated community, but this isn’t stopping these eager hardworking students from learning and exploring.
We are a tight-knit family in my classroom, and I teach much more than academics throughout the year.
My objective each year is to work diligently to reach and support every child so they grow and help them meet their full potential.
My Project
Because I transferred to the school last year and was placed in a grade level I had never taught I am lacking grade-level appropriate books for my students. I am in desperate need of new books to not only provide students with a variety of topics, but also to provide them with on level and above level books so students can feel successful and challenged.
These books will enhance my small classroom library so students have a wide variety to chose from.
I will be able to use the copies of The One and Only Ivan to complete my class set and will be using several of the picture books to teach specific skills in class.
Books deliver my rural students the world. Through these pages, my students will learn and discover far beyond their reach.
I will also be able to pair the Chris Van Alsburg books with STEAM projects to give the students amazing well-rounded lessons. This project will be far reaching for my students.
