Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are between the ages of 4 and 5 years of age. They are just starting their school experience and they all have a great love of learning.

Many of my young students lack a positive racial identity.

I teach at a PHBAO school which means Predominantly Hispanic, Black, Asian or Other. I want to celebrate and promote these differences through play.

I am excited to be teaching such a diverse, wonderful group of children and I am determine to create a positive image of themselves that will carry on throughout their lives.

My Project

This dollhouse includes African American Family doIls, Hispanic Family dolls and Asian Family dolls.

Having a cultural variety of dolls in a classroom also encourages a child’s self-acceptance, self-identification, self-esteem and confidence which are all vital for a child’s development.

I would like to help my students understand that we all have differences in hair, eye and skin color that is beautiful and unique to each race.

Providing my students with Multi-Cultural Doll Play is important to encourage the celebration of diversity. Children become very self-aware at a young age, therefore Multi-cultural doll play helps promote the celebration of cultural differences, similarities and diversity.
