This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a teacher in an amazing low-income bilingual school. They are faced with several challenges. I want to help my students in as many ways as possible and empower them to share their learning with peers. As a primary grade teacher, I know that I need to instill a love of reading and writing in all of my students. In order to accomplish this, all my students need to feel successful.

My Project

Please help fund 4 new leveled reading programs for my class. These materials would allow for students to have additional access to reading materials in our classroom. Many of my students are just beginning to learn to read and they need access to more materials. This would allow students to have a large variety of books that they could also take home in their book bags. They love reading and I want them to have as many books as possible for them to read. It is hard at the beginning stages of reading to find books that focus on early concepts of print and have beginning sight words. These books would be perfect! I have also requested magnetic tens frames to help build my students number sense and concept of place value. This is a huge standard in first grade and one that is very tricky for my students. These would be such a fun way for them to receive additional practice!
