Help me give my students structured physical activity that supports gross motor development, coordination, balance, self-regulation, and healthy lifestyle habits. Students will participate in teacher-led fitness stations that build strength, endurance, and confidence.

My Project

My kindergarten students are energetic, curious, and eager to learn. At Midway Elementary School, we know that young children learn best when they can move, explore, and engage their whole bodies. Many of my students need additional opportunities to develop balance, coordination, strength, and healthy lifestyle habits that support both physical and academic growth.

To help meet these needs, I would like to create a Kindergarten Movement and Fitness Center.

This center will provide structured, teacher-led activities that encourage students to build gross motor skills, improve coordination, increase physical activity, and develop self-regulation skills that are essential for success in the classroom.

Students will rotate through movement stations that may include balance activities, agility challenges, jumping and hopping exercises, stretching, yoga, and cooperative fitness games. These activities will help students strengthen their bodies while also practicing listening skills, following directions, counting, problem-solving, and teamwork.

The requested equipment will allow students to participate in engaging movement experiences that promote confidence, perseverance, and healthy habits. Research shows that regular physical activity improves focus, attention, and readiness to learn. By incorporating movement into our daily routine, students will be better prepared to succeed academically and socially.
