Racing Singlets for our Public Middle School Track Team

My Students

Welcome to our school! We are a small Public School in Queens that draws in students from all over District 25. Despite the kids living neighborhoods apart from each other, our school community feels more like a family than an institution.

One of the places you will see this caring dynamic is on our Track Team.

Now in its fifth year, 1 out of 6 kids in the school are on the team. On Monday mornings, kids wake up extra early to take the MTA bus into school for 7am practice. On Wednesday afternoons, we practice our endurance by running around the block. Our Principal, Assistant Principal, and even parents join us as we make the .6 mile loop.

I'm so happy and proud at the success of our co-ed program! Not only does it foster healthy competition, it also provides our girls with equal access to a sport (something near and dear to my heart).

My Project

The kids have been running in their cotton gym uniforms... and while that is fine, I want to make their Middle School Track team years significant by giving them real uniforms to rock while they run one of the many RNYRR events such as the 5k XC course in Van Cortland Park, the last .25 miles of the NYC Marathon, or the hills of Prospect Park.

Through Dick's Sporting Goods, I'm hoping to order them racing singlets.

The singlets are from Nike and Under Armour and sales on both the Men's and Women's styles are helping me offer the kids quality gear for what other sites charge for cotton tees.
