This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

These are students who are close to grade level academically but struggle to keep up with the general ed students. These students have a variety of disabilities that keep them from being able to learn in the general ed setting where there are 30-35 students.

They are learning the same skills, just in a smaller population so that they can ask questions and receive more individualized help when they don't understand a concept.

Sometimes, in the general education class, they are afraid to ask questions and show that they do not understand the same concepts the other students understand.

My Project

The students in my class work at different levels. When the higher group is working, the lower group gets frustrated. When the lower group is working, the higher group gets bored covering material they already know. They need to be able to work quickly and easily on their basic math facts and problems. With the projector, they can both work at the same time.

Projecting the work on the whiteboard allows them to compete against time and each other to finish their work.

Th student like to compete, and this motivates them to learn the facts quicker so they can win points towards class perks.
