Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This class has taken over my heart! They are overall eager to learn and push themselves harder every day. Their families have all experienced hardships, and the students know how to improve their own future by working hard today.
They lead me in their education and show me which paths they need to take.
Their vibrant personalities, creative minds, and perseverance make every day uniquely special. My students value their education because it gives them an opportunity to broaden their experiences and learn more about the world. They would be ecstatic if they got the opportunity to have more STEM supplies to improve their higher order thinking skills and career readiness.
My Project
My students have been asking for more STEM time in class. I would love to give them a Maker Space this year. This would be a designated place in the classroom where students would have STEM materials and prompts to challenge them to build with the materials. I already have the prompt/challenge cards, consumable materials, and bins. I just need the building supplies that will last for years and for many classes.
My students would benefit from these supplies by becoming more STEM literate and career ready.
They will also activate their higher order thinking by working on STEM projects with these supplies.
Along with the challenge cards and prompts, I have worksheets ready for the students to plan, design, improve, and reflect on their projects. The Make Space will incorporate so many skills and topics from what we are learning in class, such as revising, answering questions in complete sentences, knowing types of quadrilaterals, creating and identifying angles, and more! The Maker Space will be ready to go once I receive the building supplies. Thank you for your consideration in funding this project.
