My Students

Hello! My ESL students are so warm and loyal. I would like a chance to have the race discussion within the safe environment of our classroom. They need to understand what they are seeing on the news. Please help us.

My Project

My school mirrors the students in the movie Freedom Writers. My ESL students and the non-ESL students in my school need a curriculum that shows them their similarities and how they can thrive within the same community, together.

I plan on using this book study and the Diary of Anne Frank to help my students understand the race issue in America, and how acceptance starts with understanding one another.

I plan on having round table discussions to coincide with the book with our school counselor and other community guests. I am eager to start this study!
