Students at our middle school are a majority low SES. These students depend on their free breakfast and lunch they are receiving at school. They depend on the 1:1 Technology ratio. They depend on the attention and support they are getting from their teachers at school. My students could greatly benefit from this project. They could have another experience at school that they aren't necessarily getting at home. I work hard to bring those experiences to my students in my classroom all year long.
My Project
At DMS, students get the liberty in participating in clubs. They choose their club they want to participate in and they have the opportunity to participate in a different club every day of the week. Those clubs include groups like student council, spirit club, iPad travel, yoga, dancing, math support, English support, and so much more.
These clubs are a way for students to decompress mid-day and have a fun learning experience.
The clubs are run by the staff members at our school as well. I currently run a card game club, but I would love to be able to run a science quiz bowl club or maybe even a trivia club. These buzzers would be a perfect way for my students to interact without yelling, screaming, and waving their hands. It would be a fun way to interact not only in clubs, but also in my classroom.
In addition to clubs, I could use the buzzers within my classroom as review before a test. I feel as if students would be more apt to participate in something they are having fun doing rather than just doing ordinary paper and pencil study guides and flash cards.
