Many schools have 3D printers that simply sit in a box. Our school is fortunate enough to have 4 3D printers. Since they weren't being used, I asked my administration if I could take one to my classroom and start learning how to use it. They graciously agreed. \r\n\r\nI received my new filament materials and have already used them to motivate my students. Last week, my marching band was outside marching, and I told them I was looking for 4 of the top students that would win a prize at the end of class. The prizes were gold crabs (with moving legs) that I 3D printed. You should have seen how hard they were working just to earn a crab. One student even got stung by a bee while marching and didn't get out of rank. The student was fine, and thankfully not allergic to bees. He let me know that he got stung when we finished. I told him that he automatically earned a gold crab for his discipline.\r\n\r\nThe students are very excited about designing their own instruments with the crazy filament colors I ordered. My favorite one is very shiny and turns colors from purple to gold. I am going to have my French horn, trumpet, baritone, trombone and tuba students design their own mouthpiece that they will get to keep. I will even teach them how to add their name to the mouthpiece itself. My percussion students are going to be designing their own drumsticks. My woodwinds are going to design instrument stands for flutes/clarinets/saxophones so they will not have have to lay their instruments on the floor when not practicing.\r\n\r\nThe 3D printer in my classroom is constantly running. I would say that all of them are enthralled about this exciting technology. With your help, I am going to be able to help other teachers get excited about using the 3D printers in our building.\r\n\r\nI cannot thank you enough for your generous donation!","fullyFundedDate":1746720895866,"projectUrl":"project/3d-printer-supplies/9132685/","projectTitle":"3D Printer Supplies","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Miller","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9776058"},{"teacherId":2678637,"projectId":6582375,"letterContent":"Thank you for providing seating for our robotics students.
