Quill & Parchment: Unlocking Magical Narratives with Harry Potter

My Project

We are inviting students to step away from screens and embrace the magic of writing! This project aims to transform the often-dreaded task of writing practice into an exciting, imaginative journey using high-interest, tangible materials. Our students need vintage paper, a model writing journal, self-inking stamps, and Harry Potter-themed planning sheets to inspire them. The model journal will guide students in creating their own unique author's journal, strengthening metacognition and ownership over their writing process. When students are provided with special parchment-like paper, the quality and quantity of their creative writing immediately improves, boosting fluency and descriptive language.

“The stories we love best live in us forever.” Just like the enduring tales of the Wizarding World, we want our students to create stories that live in them forever.

Crucially, this project also supports executive function. For our ELL and low-literacy students, the Harry Potter planning paper is used not just for story organization, but to teach them how to structure and plan their school week and assignments. Learning to manage time and tasks is as vital as literacy itself. Furthermore, the self-inking stamps will be used as magical rewards, making the revision and completion process feel celebratory. This immersive set of tools encourages a deeper connection to the material, turning struggling students into organized, engaged authors ready to take charge of their learning
