Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am blessed to teach an amazing group of third-grade students in an inclusion classroom. My students are hardworking, enthusiastic, and full of curiosity. In our classroom, I strive to create an environment that nurtures both strong academic growth and positive social-emotional development. My goal is to build a culture of kindness, inclusion, and acceptance so that every child feels supported and can truly thrive.

Throughout the day, my students collaborate, move between learning spaces, and work together in flexible groups.

Whether they are getting out of their seats, shifting desks, or gathering with peers, movement is an essential part of our learning environment. However, this movement often comes with scraping and squeaking noises from chairs and desks, which can be overwhelming and distracting, especially for students who are sensitive to sound.

In a classroom where several students experience sensory sensitivities, managing noise levels is critical. These unexpected sounds can interrupt focus, increase anxiety, and make it more difficult for some learners to fully engage.

Tennis balls placed on the legs of chairs and desks offer a simple yet powerful solution. By reducing the noise caused by everyday movement, they will help create a calmer, more comfortable classroom environment. This small change will make a big impact by allowing all students to feel at ease and ready to learn.

With your support, we can minimize distractions and maximize learning. These tennis balls will help ensure that every student has access to a classroom environment that is not only engaging but also inclusive and supportive of their individual needs.
