My special education classroom consists of 1st and 2nd grade students. We are a self contained classroom. I have a wide range of abilities in my classroom. Some are learning to imitate sounds and names of letters while others are learning to read and write. Many of the students are to learning how to control impulsive behaviors.
In this class we all have different challenges to face but, in the end, we are successful in our own way.
First and foremost, the noise-cancelling headphones would give all the students a chance to learn in the classroom without sensory overload. Sometimes noise can be a trigger for a sensory overloaded. They can use the headphones to blockout other noises and continue to work without the distractions. This will enhance the environment in the classroom to help students learn at their full potential.
My Project
Being a special education classroom there are wide range of disabilities and behaviors in the room. I have mixture of behaviors in the classroom.
As a teacher I want to help all my student to learn in the best environment they can.
I want them to be successfully in the classroom. Some of the students are sensitive to screaming or yelling. These students will totally shut down or have melt downs when this behavior occurs in the classroom. The noise-cancelling headphones would help students with a sensory overloaded from the noise.
Covid-19 has limited the places or activities that special needs children can do because of their health concerns or underlining conditions they may have. Beside home, the classroom may be the only place they can feel successful.
