This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I teach 12O fifth and sixth grade students science and social studies. They are truly an awesome group, and I am so lucky and thankful to be a part of their learning process each year! My students are always enthusiastic about creating and presenting projects. Our school strives to find the leader in all students. Every child has awesome capabilities, talents, and strengths; sometimes, all it takes is exposure or motivation. The students in my class strive for excellence. They all inherently care about one another and continually make an effort to improve in all aspects.

My Project

My students schedule requires them to have P.E. the first period in the morning. After P.E. the students only have 5 minutes to exchange from one class to the next. Because each class has 30-32 students there is not enough time for all the students to go to the water fountain and get water. Due to this, after they exchange classes the students are always thirsty. Many of the students attempt to go up the hallway and get water. This measure cause them to be late for class and eventually end up in In-School Suspension. A classroom water dispenser will greatly alleviate this problem and allow students to be ready for instruction without being thirsty.
