This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
I teach a group of ninth graders who are anxious to come to school each day. They enjoy participating in class and would never let something like the lack of water keep them from getting an education. That is why I want to free them from worrying about where to find fresh water.
Fresh water is vital to everyone's health and wellness.
However, my students are not able to access fresh water when needed. Jackson has a water crisis and my students are caught in the middle.
My students leave home, where fresh water is not always available, and come to school and are not able to safely drink from the school's water fountains. This has left a negative impact on the students as well as on our community.
Students are now having to think about where they can get a drink of fresh water during the day. This should not be a concern of students who have come to school to learn. Bottled water and juice packs will help my students stay hydrated during the day and free them from the worry of how they will stay hydrated.
