Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
These are unprecedented times. Never did I imagine that when my students and I said goodbye in March it would mean that it was our last day in the classroom. However, the year is not over yet and the learning continues!My students and I have embarked on the distance learning journey!
We are actively engaging on all sorts of different online platforms and learning new things as we go.
My students and I participate two times a week in Zoom meetings to go over new material, to check in with each other, and share our thoughts, frustrations, and celebrate successes together. In addition, I am recording lessons at home for them to view and continue to learn new materials. I am amazed by their level of engagement and participation, and families' willingness to try new things.
My Project
When school was in session, my students look forward to Fun Friday because that was the day I incorporate an art lesson into the curriculum. When painting, coloring, drawing, or crafting, I can see the big smile on their faces and the glow in their eyes.
Students let their imaginations unleash in creative and meaningful ways.
With these art supplies, we can do Zoom paint lessons and paper origami folding lessons. We won't let quarantine ruin our Fun Fridays. Students will be able to express themselves artistically and art can be an outlet for quarantine stress.
