Quality Visuals for Emerging Bilinguals

Help me give my students continued quality materials made by me and folks at Teachers Pay Teachers. In this order, I am asking for a durable paper cutter, colored toner for my printer, and laminating sheets.

My Students

HES is a close community that makes every student feel important! My school is filled with amazing children that persevere! They are kind, compassionate, and thoughtful! My specific set of students are those who are gifted with language, categorized as English Language Learners or Emerging Bilinguals. I just love this population of sweet and wonderful children that bring a suitcase filled with diversity that is so valuable to our community.

These gifted Emerging Bilinguals in Harrisburg, OR are sweet, caring, creative, perseverant, and diverse children who have a hunger for learning!

Their unique gift of language is astonishing, to say the least! I service Kinder thru 12th grade students. Our students speak primarily Spanish at home, though I do have a family that speaks German and another that speaks Cantonese at home.

HES is a Title I, Title III school in rural Oregon. Many of my students have gone through a lot in their young lives. Even with that, they come to school eager to learn and ready to make lasting relationships.

My Project

The goal of this project is to build background knowledge and vocabulary for our Emerging Bilingual students (ESL, ESOL, English Language Learners, EL, ELL). Many student enter this program with little understanding and use of the English language in an education setting solely taught in English. In order to support students in filling this achievement gap, most resources need to be created, printed and laminated. The materials in this project will help me print and laminate quality visuals to support my Emerging Bilinguals (also known as English Learners). Visual materials are really key to helping students learn the language faster and with a solid foundation.

These visuals will build vocabulary and background knowledge that their English-speaking peers already have in their toolbox.

The goal is to create a vocabulary rich environment through visuals, hand made games and additional resources. Many of these visuals will be sent home in envelopes to help English Language Development at home with each students' family. In order to make lasting visuals, I need supplies to support them.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
