Quality Headphones Needed

My students need headphones. Our school is lucky to have received Chromebooks for each 3rd-5th grade student via federal grant funds. However, funding is not included for headphones or ear buds.

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are the best. They are enthusiastic learners who crave hands-on learning. I teach at a Title 1 school and many of my students are living in poverty. This means that they are extra appreciative of high quality literature, arts and crafts, and science/engineering learning. They love having the special responsibility of taking care of plants and pets in the classroom.

My school is highly supportive of teaching science every day, and integrating math, science, and literacy for optimal learning.

My school is also the recipient of Race to the Top funding, which has been used to provide 1 to 1 laptop computers for all students grades 3-12.

My Project

My third grade students are fortunate enough to have access to their own Chromebook and engaged learning through technology each day. Many of my students are language learners and use their computers for reading and listening comprehension activities. All of my students use them for read aloud books, test preparation, and learning videos-all activities that require headphones. However, our school grants did not cover the cost of headphones or ear buds. Because I teach at a Title 1 school, I cannot mandate that students bring their own. I can only put them on a "request list" and I usually have only four or five students bring them in. This results in me scavenging for free or cheap ear buds that quickly break, or do not fit in the students' ears. My students need a class set of quality headphones that stay in my room, can be sanitized, and will be used for future classes. I thank you in advance for your help!
