This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students love to learn about the beauty of their state through integration of Science and Art. My students love the outdoors and the beauty of our State. Their parents are mostly in the service industry and do not have the time or funds to explore the outdoors in our State.

Due to Covid-19 remote learning we are trying keep a safe distance during our art making time.

Much of the space in our small classroom is taken up by wet painting projects that need drying time and drying space. We do not have the space to socially distance and lay out our artwork to dry.

My Project

All of my students love to Paint. As an art teacher I integrate Science and Art. We have been learning about the beautiful natural landscape we all share in our state of Utah. We paint landscapes from our stunning canyons and our high desert forests. We also learn about land art and paint the Spiral Jetty. We are able to learn how the water cycle and climate change impacts these environments.

With this new drying rollaway drying rack as well as some quality drawing and painting paper my students will have the room to create these beautiful natural landscapes we share here in Utah.

The brushes, paper, and rack I have selected have been items our classroom has needed for sometime. We have been trying to navigate around our space without much room to create. Having this drying rack will give the students the room they need to paint as well as a safe place to store their artwork while it is drying. When our students are in situations that do not provide them with the ability to personally enjoy the outdoors and stunning natural features of Utah's landscapes, they will still have the ability to create and interpret these natural wonders through painting.
