My Students

Rita Mae Brown wrote, "language exerts hidden power, like a moon on the tides." Help empower students with a second language!

My students are creative, kind, and curious learners.

Today they attend K.W. School, but some day they will enter the real world, a world that is ever changing, ever growing. Knowledge of Spanish and English will allow these students to communicate with roughly 2/3 of the world! With your help, we can acquire the tools to help them build fluency in a second language.

My Project

The magazines I am requesting for my students already have a home and a purpose! They will join our class library as choice reading material during free reading time, but they will also become an integral part of our classroom lessons and discussions. Students will choose an article each week to focus on learning more about, building understanding of both language and culture.

Donations to this project will serve to increase my students' reading comprehension and fluency, in addition to increasing their cultural awareness.

We will use these magazines to build interest and understanding of the Spanish-speaking world, as well as a love of language and reading. Hopefully this will also spark students to become life-long readers!
