Puzzles and Centers for Young English Language Learners
Help me give my students sight word puzzles, sequencing cards and language development activities in order to aid my students in English acquisition. Thank you!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am an ESOL teacher and I teach kindergarten, first and second graders. I love working with young scholars. I visit all 55 of my students in their general education classroom each day to make sure they are developing their vocabulary in the English language.
My students are curious, creative, energetic, and SO happy to come to school every day in order to learn all that they can.
They devour books one after the other. They love to explore math concepts with the use of manipulatives. These students crave hands on activities. They sing, dance, play, learn and grow each week.
My ESOL students are proud when they conquer challenges and make growth in class. Each day these students learn new words, letters, alphabet sounds or skills. I am so lucky to be their teacher and to be able to help them on their journey.
My Project
My students will love the hands on, tactile aspect of the sight word puzzles! The puzzles will be used to practice not only word recognition, but letters and sounds too. The sequencing cards will provide opportunities for my students to practice their oral language and vocabulary as well as their retelling skills.
The speaking, listening, reading and writing centers will provide fantastic practice for all my ESOL students in their acquisition of the English language.
They will be able to use these materials one on one, in pairs or even in small group. I cannot wait to see their happy faces when they see brand new activities to explore and practice with.
