I am late with my impact data because of all of this, and the associated deadlines teachers face along with these events. I chose to prioritize getting these books onto the shelf, for the kids, and reshelving the other books that they were returning and checking back out. While not all of the books made it to the shelves before the end of the school year, the ones that did make it spent the majority of their time in student hands, not on the shelf. That is a win. Thank you.\r\n\r\nThe books that did not make it onto the shelves are waiting on my priority shelf, to get cataloged, stickered, stamped and shelved (in order) before the library opens to students at the beginning of August. Thanks to you, when students ask for a book in the series their teacher is reading in class, I will be able to say \"yes\" and give the students a selection of books to choose from. Thanks to you, when students ask if I have a specific book for their friend to read, I can make it happen. I know which books came from the Donor's Choose program, and when a student's face lights up because I asked if they liked their book, I know when it is because of you. And each time this happens, I send thoughts and prayers of gratitude your way. Thank you.","fullyFundedDate":1739984163895,"projectUrl":"project/our-younger-readers-want-to-join-the-rea/8976882/","projectTitle":"Our Younger Readers Want to Join the Reading Fun Too!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Kinney","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9095534_orig.jpg?crop=1725,1725,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1689020830157","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/kinney-library"},{"teacherId":9095534,"projectId":8949780,"letterContent":"Our kids love all of the books you gave us, and I only wish more of them had followed through with writing the thank you notes that they promised to write. As you can see from the pictures, all of the books are checked out - and have been constantly since the books arrived around Thanksgiving. I will sometimes check in a copy without a hold on it, but such a book never stays on the shelf for more than a class period or two. One student stops by the library on a daily basis, to see if \"his\" books are in yet. Nope - there's about five kids ahead of him in line, and Dogman books are often returned late.\r\n\r\nIt isn't just that these books are constantly checked out, but they're also growing our reading community. During dismissal, I now will see at least one student actively reading as they wait for their walker group to be dismissed. I've heard students talk to each other about which of two books is the better book, or someone will walk beside me so they can tell me how they've read their book TWICE because it was so good. \r\n\r\nI wish you could see the grins on these kids' faces when they return a book and I ask them what they thought. It's marvelous - and YOU put it there.
