When you walk into my classroom, you experience a buzz of excitement for learning from my students. My class has students who dream to be a cowgirl to students who long for a rainy day to splash in the puddles. As students who come from poverty, school offers a safe haven where they know they can reach for the stars and feel successful. School is many students' first exposure to letters and numbers. We need the best resources to build their solid academic foundation

Our classroom needs supplies to help bring learning to life and keep my students reaching for their dreams. They can achieve so much!
My students have worked so hard this year to learn the sounds letters make and now we are ready to put sounds together to make words. This is an important skill because it is the basis of reading. We have been working on blending for a few months and many students continue to struggle to connect letter sounds and words.
Word puzzles and textured Touch and Read Phonics cards will help my students connect pictures and words to strengthen their understanding of blending.
The Touch and Read Phonics cards will be used during small group instruction for my students who learn best through hands on learning. This resource adds a textured dot for each sound in the word and a matching picture. Having something to touch helps students make important connections within the brain to learn and retain information. The CVC (short vowel) word work center, Build a Word Houses and Word Building Puzzles will be used during independent reading centers. Students will use their knowledge of letter sounds to build and read short vowel words. The best part is these activities are self-checking so students can monitor their own work! With the support of a picture, students will be able to build confidence and fluency as they blend sounds together to make words.
