Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a school in a high poverty area, my students face some unique challenges. The school where we are located is considered a Title I school and 71% of the student population is on free or reduced-price lunch. My classroom is both a gifted and ESOL classroom, so we face the challenge of enriching and providing support to many different types of learners.

The students and their families are committed to academic excellence; they are hard working and driven to make sure their students are getting the most out of their education.

My students come to me every day eager to learn and ready to participate. They love challenges and learning new things! The students love anything technology based, and I want to try to incorporate as much excitement in their learning as possible.

My Project

My students are amazing, but we are not quite so with multiplication and division yet. I teach third and fourth grade advanced content math. My students have been through so much in the last year, and they always come in with a smile. Unfortunately, during the pandemic, one of the things that suffered was our basic facts. My students could really use some help reinforcing strategies and fact fluency. I am determined to make this learning fun for them, given that so much has changed or been taken away. We could really use some love and faith to help us reach our goals.
