See what Mrs. Detz is requestingMy students need flexible seating to inspire and enhance their learning opportunities. Having balance balls, large pillows and beanbag chairs will allow students the freedom of choice on their style of learning and environment.

"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go." I strive each day for my students to become what I KNOW they can and WILL be......SUCCESSFUL!
As a first grade teacher in a low-income/high poverty school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom.
For many of my students, this is their first experience of going to school as well as a full day program. We are a Title 1 school and also participate in the free and reduced priced lunch program. All of our students are eligible to receive free breakfast and lunch each day. Through all the hardships these students are curious and always eager to learn.
Choice is a powerful motivator for children, especially when given great options. Flexible seating in the classroom is more than offering unique work spaces for students, it allows a fun learning environment that encourages creativity and collaboration. Providing these choices for my students will also allow the classroom to feel like this is just another home to the students.
Research has proven that students who are able to move around throughout the day perform better in the classroom and with their academics.
Through incorporating flexible seating into the classroom, there comes many benefits for the students; burning more calories, using up excess energy, increasing motivation and engagement, and creating better oxygen flow to the brain. By providing my students this choice of seating, productivity will increase dramatically. I look forward to transforming my classroom into a fun, comfortable, classroom where students have choice in how they learn. Please consider donating to our classroom.
