Putting a New Slant on Writing!

My students need modifications and accommodations such as slant boards and movement tools in their classrooms to better access their environment and the curriculum.

My Students

I teach students with special needs in grades TK-5th. These students spend the majority of their day in the general education setting, but they often need multiple supports, accommodations and modifications to help them be as successful as possible in their learning environment.

These students overcome challenges, both big and small, on a daily basis.

Their disabilities include Autism Spectrum Disorders, specific learning disabilities, attention deficit (hyperactivity) disorders, and intellectual disabilities. These students work very hard to reach their potential. I am grateful to work with such an inspiring group of children.

My Project

I have chosen the slant boards and "desk-erciser" because they have already proven to be beneficial and effective for several of my students, but I need more in order to meet all of my students needs.

The slant board can help students who have handwriting difficulties.

The incline of the board improves their fine motor output, resulting in neater handwriting and overall legibility.

The "desk-erciser" helps students get their wiggles out without having to leave their seat. In this way they are able to focus more on the lesson at hand while providing them with the movement that they need.
