My Students

I have been fortunate enough to teach for twenty-five years, sixteen of those years have been in second grade. This year, I will eagerly move to fourth grade where I will potentially have thirty students excitedly walk through my door. My hope is that they will be ready to soak in as much knowledge as I can give them in a safe, invited environment. I am excited to make connections with them and their families and take them as far as they can go this school year!

My Project

It is imperative for students to be fully engaged in classic novels in order to build vocabulary and learn reading comprehension strategies. The novels I am requesting, were most likely read by everyone in their school career. I want to make sure that all of my students have the opportunity to be submerged in great literature throughout the school year. Students will engage in novel studies where they analyse characters, connect with the themes, and just enjoy classic stories of love, friendship, and determination. I want to make sure every student in my class has the book in his/her hands in order to make learning happen for all.
