My Students

I teach 10th grade English in a large, public urban high school. My school is diverse and so I have students from all walks of life with a wide range of interests. My school is divided into academies, and my students are particularly interested in design and technology. I also have many athletes who have specifically asked for more sports titles.

I have students who love to read and students who haven't yet found the right book.

I'm hoping to meet more of my students' varied interests with these books.

My Project

We make time for independent reading every day in my classroom. While we do have an excellent school library, many students prefer to read the books in my classroom.

Students need compelling, authentic, relevant books to read, and so all English teachers need a robust library in their classrooms.

These books have been recommended by Project LIT and other reviewers as excellent for teen readers.

My ultimate goal as a teacher is to foster a love of reading, and therefore learning, in all my students. The best way to do this is to put excellent books in their hands. Help me!
