My Students

An air purifier in the classroom will help remove harmful irritants and allergens that can cause your little one to feel sick, run-down, or stuffy and tired; this includes the Coronavirus. This is a priority while the numbers of those infected with the Omicron variant are rising rapidly. We are currently virtual after our holiday break and while my students are looking forward to returning to face-to-face instruction, they want to do so safely. This air purifier will help allay their fears and worries

Our community is comprised of a large Title I, English Language Learners (ELL), and special education population, as well as an ethnically diverse and comprised of students who are 33% Latinx, 22% Asian, 22% Black, 20% white.

Regularly, 44% of students receive free or reduced-price lunches; this year, all students benefit from free breakfast and lunches.

My Project

This Blueair Purifier will help my students breathe easier while in my classroom. The aerosol particles that can live in the air for hours, spreading infection, are released during many typical school activities such as the basics: breathing; speaking; coughing; and sneezing.

Nicholas Negroponte is quoted as saying "Access by kids to the Internet should be like kids breathing clean air." Over the past two years, students have had additional access to the internet as education went virtual.

Back in the classroom, students are concerned about the safety of the air they breathe and anything that might be in that air.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
