This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach third grade students at a Title I elementary school in rural North Carolina. Although our school is located in a prosperous and thriving neighborhood my students don't live in this area.
Most of my students come from low social-economical households.
Although our school is located in a prosperous and thriving neighborhood my students don't live in this area. But, like most students they come to school to find a sense of belonging and because of the lasting relationships that are built there with their teachers and peers.
My Project
My students would love to "pull up a seat" on a new carpet.
My students will use this new space to enjoy sharing with each other at morning meeting and listening to interactive read aloud.
This space will allow my students to sit comfortably so they can focus on the lesson and read aloud. We will also use the carpet when we work on small group station work and for whole group exercises on the smart board.
By donating to our project, you will not only help to improve and increase student attention and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement.
