Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are third through sixth grade, inner-city students with social-emotional issues, as well as some learning delays that make participating in a general education setting difficult. For most of my students, the classroom is their safe and reliable place. They are all working so hard to develop the skills they need for success in the classroom now and in the future.
These students have so many great hidden talents, and I love being able to bring it out of them.
They have tumultuous home lives and my staff and I provide them with the stability they need and desire so badly. It is because these kids are so special that I love working with them and want to help them feel safe and protected.
My Project
My students would benefit from the zenergy chairs especially during independent work time. Traditional seating has not been an effective way to keep them on task. The cando seats would help my students that need more sensory stimulation while sitting. The bounce gives them additional support. Each of these chairs can be used during computer and desk work. The mobility of the zenergy and cando chairs makes them a wonderful option within the classroom.
Traditional seating does not offer the sensory support my student need to be successful.
I currently have one traditional yoga ball that all of the children ask for and we rotate throughout the day. Having so many more options for them would bring more peace to my classroom.
