This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
My students love science, and their favorite part is the hands-on experiments or projects. When teaching about the ecosystem, often, there is a lack of hands-on experiments that students can take part in.
I want to be able to support my students' learning goals by allowing them to dissect owl pellets and learn about the owl's place in the food web, how the owl's presence impacts our lives, and how the ecosystem can be impacted if the owl species were to change in population.
This experience will also let students use analytical thinking by matching bones found to the chart in the kit. It will also allow them to use new science equipment and learn about different STEM careers.
Please help me give my students the opportunity to dissect owl pellets to learn more about ecosystems.
