My Project

Proyecto Manos a la Obra: Hands-On Learning project supports Cultura Viva Spanish Club by providing essential materials for experiential cultural learning in grades 9–12. Funding supports supplies for hands-on cultural creative projects, Spanish-language activities and games, and culturally representative snacks at Cultura Viva Club sessions. The project promotes engagement, collaboration, and standards-aligned world language instruction.

In world language education, student engagement is essential for language acquisition and cultural understanding.

Manos a la Obra addresses this need by providing materials and resources that allow students to move beyond passive learning and participate in project-based activities that bring Spanish language and culture to life. Through hands-on cultural projects, students create artifacts, explore traditions (Cinco de Mayo, Día de zlos Muertos) and express learning through art, design, and interactive tasks that reflect authentic cultural practices from the Spanish-speaking world. The materials requested will be used to create cultural artifacts (pinata, Ojo de Dios etc.,). Interactive Spanish bingo games reinforce vocabulary. The storage organizer will keep materials organized and secured.

The project intentionally supports creativity by giving students opportunities to design, build, and present cultural products using instructional materials aligned to curriculum goals.

To further strengthen cultural immersion and community building, Manos a la Obra incorporates culturally representative snacks as part of structured learning experiences. These moments encourage dialogue about traditions, customs, and perspectives while creating an inclusive, welcoming learning environment.

Manos a la Obra supports equitable access to engaging, standards-aligned world language instruction by ensuring students have the resources necessary to participate fully in creative, experiential learning. By fostering curiosity, creativity, and collaboration, the project deepens students’ connection to language and culture while strengthening the overall impact and sustainability of Cultura Viva for students in grades 9–12.
