I work with middle school students (grades 6-8) who have a variety of communication needs. Many of my students have delays in articulation, receptive language, expressive language, and/or social communication. My students' abilities range, and so do the types of classrooms they are served in also vary!
Some students are learning to use their words, while others are learning to use signs or pictures!
Some students communicate using their mouths, while others communicate using their hands or eyes. Some students are readers, some students are just learning to read, and some students need visual supports to help read.
Regardless of their skills, incorporating literacy into their therapy sessions will help improve their skills and increase their interest in phonological awareness and reading!
My Project
These materials will make a difference in my students' learning, by providing individualized supports so all my students can access literacy-based activities. My students' abilities vary across a large spectrum - for example, some students are readers, some are learning to read, some need visuals to support their reading.
Literacy-based interventions are key to increasing interest in literacy activities, as well as improving literacy and phonological awareness skills!
The materials I'm requesting include books, worksheets, and other activities that incorporate literacy into my lesson plans.
All of these materials will help my students improve a variety of skills, that will help them better access their education.
