Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 668 students attend an elementary school in Texas. We are a bilingual school and 87% of the families are low income. I am the Physical Education/Health Teacher for all these students (Kinder-5th).
My students need first aid quickly.
My gym is not close to the nurse's office. I am first aid and CPR/AED certified. I do have an AED in the gym, but I do not have a first aid kit that accommodate the amount of students I see in the gym daily.
My Project
All students should receive a safe environment where they know if they get hurt, it will be taken care of immediately. When a student feels safe, they are great learners. The material will be used to give first aid immediately after an incident happens in the gym. I am first aid, CPR/AED certified. The nurse will be contacted but sometimes it takes her 10-20 minutes to come to the gym. She is very busy with kiddos inside and just can't leave. If I send a child to the nurse with blood dripping from a scraped knee, it can cause others to be exposed to body fluids.
