Protecting the Gear That Makes Learning Move.

Help me give my students organization materials for an outdoor storage shed to protect our cross-curricular physical education equipment and ensure the sustainability of our active, outdoor learning program.

My Project

The Enrichment Program at VE in NC provides a cross curricular physical activity class to over 760 students ages 5–12 in an engaging, year-round outdoor learning environment. I developed this class and curriculum over the last several years focusing on integrating math, reading, and science into physical education games & activities. Over the years, I have made improvements and upgrades to the section of blacktop that serves as my classroom space. I have painted lines, added a sensory trail, and painted a conflict resolution conversation guide. The goal of my classroom space is to strengthen essential academic concepts through hands-on, collaborative movement. This dynamic approach supports the whole child, promoting physical literacy, and social-emotional growth in a creative, memorable way. To sustain these daily, cross-curricular lessons, the program utilizes a wide variety of instructional materials and physical education equipment. However, because the school system currently lacks the funding for outdoor infrastructure, these resources are difficult to organize, access, and protect from the elements.

Funds raised will go to purchasing materials necessary to organize a storage shed that will be placed at my blacktop classroom, with items like a shelving unit and totes.
