Promoting Student Health Through Ergonomics

My Students

I have the privilege of helping 7th grade students in a rural area of the south practice using language and math skills. Students accomplish this by using PBL activities and various computer-based programs and tools.

Since my students use computers on a daily basis, ergonomics is a huge concern.

I hope to provide each student work station with a desk riser so they can stand while working if desired.

My Project

Teaching middle school students can be tough. They are full of energy ALL the time! Teaching on computers can be extremely tough for students because they have to be in front of the computer in order to complete the work. This means long periods of sitting, which is difficult for them.

Acquiring the desk risers for my classroom will allow students to stand while working at the computer.

This will help tremendously by allowing good ergonomics, freedom in the classroom, and the ability to get some energy out while working.
