Promoting Literacy in Kindergarten

Help me give my students the opportunity to read books on their level to promote independence and confidence in their reading abilities.

My Students

This is my first year teaching and I absolutely adore my students! I teach a kindergarten class in Brunswick County, North Carolina. My goal is to have a supportive classroom that welcomes all learners and encourages growth, love, and security.

It is my top priority to make sure that my students have everything they need to be successful.

With your generous hearts and donations, you will provide my students with tools and opportunities to reach their personal goals in a successful learning environment.

I have a wonderful class of 19 diverse learners. They are sweet, active, and so excited to learn! They love to have fun and we try to find engaging ways to combine fun and learning every day.

Thank you so much for even considering donating to my classroom, and my future students. We are all so appreciative of you!

My Project

Small groups and leveled readers are a core part of our everyday literacy instruction. These leveled readers will promote independence within our small groups as students are able to read books that are best suited for their reading level. As students gain this independence, they become more confident in their reading abilities. Every student book that is placed in my leveled or small group library is treated with love and care, and they are thankful for the opportunities to read. All of these books have been chosen with my students in mind-I have watched them the past few weeks of school read titles just like these, and enjoy the opportunity and ability to read and comprehend books that are perfect for their individual reading levels. Students will be able to choose books, which will help them continue to enjoy independent reading time.

With these new books, my students will be able to choose from a variety of books that will allow them to read independently at their own reading level.

They will also be able to choose books that interest them. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more, and these books will continue to help my students grow stronger in reading. My students already have shown an incredible interest and love for reading, and this project will only help encourage their experiences with independent reading.
