Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I would like to begin teaching kindness skills in our preschool classroom. I would like to get some kindness books, kindness awards/granola bars to use daily in our large group and small group activities. Preschoolers should participate in kindness activities because they can help them develop important social and emotional skills, such as empathy, compassion, gratitude, and respect. Kindness activities can also foster a positive and caring classroom culture, where children learn to cooperate, share, and help each other.
I will measure this success of the students by taking daily observations of them, and aligning it with our assessment tools in the classroom.
Then I can use that data that I have collected to align the curriculum with different ideas to use in the classroom to help children continue to, find value and learning about compassion and kindness.
I would also like to get our classroom an interactive white board and mount.
We have a small iPad we are currently using for daily interactive lessons and stories, although it is very difficult for all children to be able to see such a small screen. With a large interactive white board, all children will be able to see the screen, have flexible seating to interact with the activities we are learning such as dancing to alphabet songs and this will also help us to provide multiple modalities of learning for all children and their individual needs. This will allow for further ways of differentiating learning and allow for supporting all 7 different learning styles that children may have. Interactive learning is about giving children an all-rounded experience that aims to not just instruct them on a theoretical level but also give them real-world examples and experiences to back up the knowledge they are absorbing.
