My Project

Our school is truly a diverse and multicultural school with students from all backgrounds, cultures, and abilities. I would like to build our classroom library to Include literature about different cultures which will allow my students to have access to multicultural literature and strengthen their reading skills while becoming more aware of cultural diversity at the same time.

Diversity and inclusion are important topics in the world right now that we need to incorporate into our classrooms with kindness, empathy, and understanding.

It is easier for children to accept everyone when we make connections with others and understand their stories. I want to help my class become a strong, unified, and accepting community. It is so important that the students I work with feel as if they belong, that they are celebrated, and treat each other with kindness. We like to respect what makes us different and unique as well as recognize the similarities we all have that connect us.

The university shirts are to help students promote college and career readiness involving imparting knowledge and skills students need to be successful in post-secondary education and/or training that lead to gainful employment. Life is changing and evolving quickly, thanks partly to technological developments in the past twenty to thirty years. The more educators can do to help promote and teach college and career readiness, the better. Within each classroom, there are various ways educators can implicitly and explicitly teach students to develop the skills they need to succeed as adults!

It is necessary to provide opportunities for children to see the representation of their culture and background to provide validation for themselves.
