Projects Projected for Pupils

Help me give my students a projector so that they can see projected lessons and videos on a screen.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are all special education students with various disabilities that affect their lives in a multitude of ways. Some of my students need information to be presented in a slow, simplified way in order to perform in all of their content area classes. Other students may have emotional disabilities that prevent them from controlling certain scenarios and may have to leave their classes in order to reorganize themselves. Finally, some students may have physical limitations that they need additional adult support with navigating the large building we are housed in. In addition, they may need support with navigating a classroom setting and advocating for themselves.

Being a special education teacher to these students is the most rewarding experience I could ever ask for.

My students are all different and, therefore, need to be treated as individuals. Differentiating all aspects of their curriculum and learning is imperative for their overall success in school and lives.

My Project

Students learn in a variety of ways and having a visual with auditory for students can and is beneficial to their learning. Because we are such a large building, we are moved into classrooms without projectors in which to teach. This creates an issue for the students. Many lessons that we project have videos attached to make them more personal. Many students need to be able to see the material being spoken about. A projector will be directly hooked up to either our work laptops or to our portable document projectors allows us to show an entire class what they need to know, how they need to know it, or answer questions based on what they are working on.

Special education students need lessons and information presented in a variety of ways.

If we had a projector, we can hook it up to our laptops and watch videos on what we are teaching, play interactive games, have notes and ideas projected, and have students create projects and share them with others in the class. Students are not engaged looking at the teachers write on a white board. Having something fun and interactive will engage them in the activities being presented. It is hard enough to compete with the student's personal technology. We need a way to reengage them and get them to want to learn the material being presented. I believe this is the answer- have a projector where lessons can be made fun and interactive.
